“The Wedding”, a one-act play, is a classical piece in every sense of the word, a real Chekhovian drama masterpiece. The homonymous play staged for Satiricus Theatre belongs to a special genre - it is a harmonious combination of the art of acting, music, choreography and gestures. The director, Sandu Grecu, envisioned the performance as a contemporary Bessarabian wedding, with all its excesses and hallucinatory manifestations and, obviously, with the appropriate Russian elements. Thus, the action takes place during a wedding, where all the characters are introduced - a happy bride, a dignified groom, some worried parents and all sorts of guests, among which there is also an important general (who is actually a modest second-rank captain, lower in rank than a colonel). The main characters of the play are Dashenka and Epaminond Maximovitch Aplombov, the bride and groom of a wedding that gradually turns into an event mired with conflicts, which are more or less declared, between the other participants of this “fortunate” occasion. The bride's parents, Nastasya Timofeyevna and Evdokim Zaharovitch Zhigalov, uncover each other's secrets in front of their own daughter, and the groom gets angry when his claims are ignored and the promises of his parents-in-law are not kept.
