With an excellent European Championships and marvellous competitions at the Olympic Games, Women’s Artistic Gymnastics truly enjoyed its many hours in the spotlight. Our European Championships in Cluj-Napoca will be the first big test, so join us in Romania, exactly 60 years after the first ever Europeans for women was held in its capital Bucharest.
The Romanian Gymnastics Federation has been preparing for the first big international competition of the 2017 – 2020 cycle, the 7th Individual European Championships to be held in Romania’s second biggest city, Cluj-Napoca.
As it’s an individual Europeans, no team competition will be contested but an all-around and 4 event titles will be awarded. Will we the current champions extend their reign or will new faces emerge? Aliya Mustafina has already said that she plans to take a break while Giulia Steingruber ended her season early because of an injury. And what can we expect of this year’s junior champions on the senior stage? Juniors like Martina Maggio (ITA), Elena Eremina, Anastasia Iliankova (RUS), Diana Varinska (UKR), Marie Skammelsen (DEN), Alice Kinsella (GBR) and many more join the senior ranks in 2017. Exciting times ahead!
