Unfortunately, Iggy and the Stooges will be canceling this year tour due to the sad news of Ron Asheton`s death. In the summer of 2009, Iggy & The Stooges were to play at B`ESTFEST`s 3rd edition, in Bucharest. Guitarist Ron Asheton passed way at the age of 60. The artist was found dead at his home in Ann Arbor, Michigan on January 6th. Ron was a founding member of the Stooges, along with his brother Scott Asheton, Iggy Pop and original bassist Dave Alexander. "We consider the band`s decision an understandable one after this sorrowful event, and we are sure that the Romanian fans will understand it as well. Our deepest regrets and sincere condolences, aside with the fans` ones, go to Ron Asheton`s family and friends in these harsh moments", said Laura Coroianu, Executive Director of Emagic, the B`ESTFEST`s organizers.
