Groove Armada, Soulwax si 2ManyDJs in Romania!Date: 22 September 2006
Groove Armada is one of the most critically appreciated names of the clubbing scene, among their millions of fans being also stars like Madonna or Elton John. The club band members, Andy Cato and Tom Findlay met some 8 years ago and they discovered a shared love of jazz, funk, disco and house music. With a rich musical background - Andy plays trombone, keyboards, and bass guitar, and Tom was a DJ, vocalist and trumpet player as a teenager - both of them started the Groove Armada project in 1997. The debut album, 'Northern Star', a combination of jazz and funk influences with house rhythms and technology, was well received by both the public and the critics, who used "Nu-Med" or "Nu-Balearic" to describe their sound. After 4 successful albums and lots of hit singles, both in clubs and charts, GROOVE ARMADA released their first Greatest Hits album - 'Groove Armada: The Best Of', which includes the world known "Superstylin'", "I See You Baby" and "My Friend".
2MANYDJs is the Dewaele's brothers - Stephen and David - project. They both took DJ-ing courses from their own father, a 60's famous Belgian DJ, DJ Zaki, and they started mixing in 1999 under the name of SOULWAX. They became famous by cutting together the instrumental and the vocal part of tracks and artists that apparently didn't match in sound: Blackstreet with Grandmaster Flash, Beck with Prodigy and Beastie Boys vs Herbie Hancock with INXS vs AC/DC. It's impossible for anyone to stay away from the dancefloor at their shows: their thrilling, groovy mixes make you laugh, explore a couple of decades of music history and guarantee you maximum fun! After they release the "Much Against Everyone's Advice" album, the Dewaele brothers kept the name Soulwax for their studio projects and rock band (which also includes Stefaan Van Leuven and Steve Slingeneyer), taking the name 2ManyDJs for the live mixing sessions. On November 11, at Tenis Club Bucuresti, the two brothers will put up a complete show, both as 2ManyDJs and Soulwax Nite Versions Live - a live performance of their acclaimed album Soulwax Nite Versions, created especially for the club scene - and will be covering a wide area of musical genres, from rock to pop, techno to funk.
